Hard Target in Finland

In Finland K-18 version was uncut, but on video was cut 5.51 for certification K-16. Almost all violence was removed from the videoversion. In the beging when Damne met Yancy Butler, in Finnish video van Damne doesn't even touch those bad guys, he only looks at the and then they fall down. Looks funny!

This is his debut in America. Hard Target was shot in New Orleans, Orleans parish, Louisiana, USA. Acclaimed Hong Kong action specialist John Woo, director of KILLER and HARD-BOILED, made his US directing debut with this film. Though working on a Jean-Claude Van Damme vehicle can be seen as a comedown for Woo, he rises to the occasion to create an often rousing entertainment that is almost inarguably Van Damme's best film to date.

A woman hires a man to find her father, who has been killed by a group of men that hunts military veterans. Another version of "The Most Dangerous Game"
Original version was over 2 hours, but MPAA forced Woo to cut some scenes they thought too violent. So Hard Target lost almost half an hour. Let's hope they'll release the 'Original director's version' some day.

Binder (Chuck Pfaffer, screenwriter) is victim in this 'human hunt game' arranged by Emil Fouchon (Lance Hendriksen) in New Orleans. Binders daughter Natasha (Yancy Butler) comes to fook for his father, but police are in strke and are unable to help her. She is told to find someone with local knowledge to help her in her search of father. Then Change Boudreaux saves her from the hands of gang of punks. After that Chance agrees to help Natasha. They find a businessman, who works as an assistant for Fouchon, by looking for homeless combat veterans. After their visit, Fouchon's henchman Pik van Cleaf pays him a visit and gives one warning. The next victim in the manhuntbusiness will be Boudreaux's old friend Roper (Willie Carpenter). While Natasha and Boudreaux are still looking for killer of Natasha's father, Fouchon decides to kill them both, and arranges one last big manhunt. Boudreaux leads Fouchon and his huntin army to a large (Mardi Gras) warehouse, where he begins to hunt the hunters. The grande finale is somewhat a new version to some scenes in Hard Boiled, but it still lacks of something.

In Hong Kong Woo made his own scripts, but in Hollywood it is no longer possible. Lance Henriksen is really good in his role as a Fouchon, a rich bastard leading his rude manhunting business. And also Arnold Vosloo makes really good work, he made a good impression to me. He is a unknown actor but I have heard that he has starred numerous films, mainly action, in South Africa where he came from. He also can be seen in many Scanners -sequels. Original Scanners was very clever scifi-horror feature directed by David Cronenberg at time when he used to be original (That's a long time ago.
